Happy Halloween! To celebrate this spooky holiday, we wanted to share some fun Halloween facts. Here are 10 fun (and some little-known) facts about one of our favorite holidays of the year!

Halloween is second only to Christmas in total holiday spending. Consumers spend over $2 billion during Halloween on costumes, candy and more. That includes over $330 million on pet costumes!

Jack-o-lanterns are an Irish tradition. In Ireland, oversized rutabagas, turnips and potatoes were carved into faces with candles placed inside as a lantern.

A full moon on Halloween isn't as common as you would think. In fact, the most recent Halloween full moon was in 2001 and before that it was in 1955.

In the United States, almost 600 million lbs. of candy a year is purchased for the Halloween holiday. Sound like a lot? It should! It's about 16 billion fun size candy bars!

More than twice as much chocolate is sold at Halloween than is sold for Valentine's Day. In fact, 90 million pounds of chocolate are sold during Halloween week!
