2014: A Healthier You

As we head into the last evening of 2013, we are reminded of a wonderful year. And, of course, of the things we want to do differently next year. So, here are five easy tips on being a healthier you in 2014.

Eat healthy. Fad diets don't work and neither does skipping meals. Try to maintain a healthy weight with vegetables, fruits, lean meats and lots of exercise.

Get some sleep. That doesn't mean catching up on the weekends. Get to bed at a regular time every day, including Saturdays. Don't stay up too late or sleep to late. A regular sleep schedule can make a world of difference in how you feel every day.

Find some peace. It is easy to get stressed, but it is also okay to give yourself a break. An activity like reading, yoga, running or singing can help you relax. Take some time off for yourself, even if it's just a few minutes. Or if you can, enjoy a whole week off. Your brain and body will thank you and you might even find yourself happier and better at concentrating.

Hydrate. Drinking water is good for your body in a ton of ways, from keeping you full between meals to keeping your skin and hair healthy. And if you work long, tough days on the farm, hydrating is key. Grab a water bottle and keep it with you. Your body will thank you.

Make friends. Friends are there to support you through bad and good times. Make a new connection or focus on an old one. If you need life advice, who better to ask than a fellow farmer!
