Women in Ag: Leaders in the Agricultural Industry

Women in Ag

Women in agriculture are leaders in the agricultural industry and are paving the way for a better future in farming. From cattle ranchers to homestead managers, women in agriculture make up a significant portion of those who are working America's farmlands.

According to the 2012 Census of Agriculture, almost 1 million women are actively working in farms. That equates to almost one-third of the farmers in America. Every year, women in ag are generating over $12.9 billion dollars in agricultural sales annually, and women don't only tend to farmland either. Women in agriculture also include the agricultural scientists, foresters, veterinarians, business owners, property owners, managers, and more. As you can see, women are very much involved in all aspects of agriculture and farming.

Women in Agriculture Resources

Many organizations exist to help women in ag improve their quality of life by offering resources and farming tips to help women find the balance between family farm life and other personal obligations. These agricultural resources can range from localized groups to regional or national, and offer excellent networking opportunities and educational value.  Check out our women in farming resources to find agricultural conferences and other farm-related events that may be of interest.
